Silent Valley Welcomes 175 Species and 17 New Species of Birds

Silent Valley National Park in the last month identified 141 species of birds of which 17 were new species of birds. A total of 175 species of birds have been spotted in Silent Valley.

Silent Valley National Park in the last month identified 141 species of birds of which 17 were new species of birds. A total of 175 species of birds have been spotted in Silent Valley. The bird survey was conducted at Silent Valley on the 27th, 28th, and 29th of December 2022 and marked the 30th Anniversary of the first bird survey in Silent Valley.

 

The bird survey was first conducted in the last week of December 1990, however, due to Covid-19, the anniversary could not be celebrated in December 2020.

 

 

P.K Uthaman and C.Sushant, the veteran birders were the only members of the 7th Survey team who had attended the first survey held in 1990. For the survey, 30 birders and forest staff took part in the bird survey by staying in seven camps inside the core area of the Silent Valley. The survey was held in association with the Kerala Natural History Society.

 

New Bird Species in Silent Valley National Park

There were a total of 17 new species of birds in the Silent Valley including-

 

Brown wood owl

Banded Bay Cuckoo

Malabar Woodshrike

White-throated Kingfisher

Indian Nightjar

Jungle Nightjar

Large Cuckooshrike

From the survey held in 2006, 139 birds have been identified and the number of species went up to 142 in the last survey held in 2014. Birds like the Crimson-backed sunbird, Yellow-browed bulbul, Black Bulbul, Indian white-eye, and Indian Swiftlet were found in abundance in Silent Valley.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Madhya Pradesh Residential Land Rights scheme.

 

 

Key Points

 

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Madhya Pradesh Residential Land Rights scheme (Mukhyamantri Awasiya Bhu Adhikar Yojana) to distribute free leases of residential land to selected beneficiaries. The scheme aims to provide free plots to the poor living in rural areas for building their houses. The land will be offered completely free of cost and along with the plot, the benefits of all other schemes will also be delivered.

 

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also gave land rights letters to the eligible beneficiaries of this scheme.

 

The plots worth about 129 crore rupees were distributed to 10,918 families in the Tikamgarh district under the scheme.

 

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan distributed free pattas of residential land to selected beneficiaries.

 

Under the scheme, applications from 14 lakh people have been received from across the state.

 

Out of these, residential plots worth Rs 120 crore were provided to 10 thousand 500 eligible beneficiaries of Tikamgarh district.

 

The scheme will be launched in the entire state.

 

The Chief Minister had instructed the Revenue Department to identify the eligible beneficiaries for this scheme and prepare their data.

 

Each beneficiary family will be given a plot of about 600 square feet for construction of houses under various schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

 

This step will also pave the way for construction of houses for poor families under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a new campaign "Didi'r Surakha Kavach" for her party, Trinamool Congress.

 

 

Key Points

 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a new campaign “Didi’r Surakha Kavach” for her party, Trinamool Congress. The campaign “Didi’r Surakha Kavach” ahead of the panchayat polls due in April. The “Didi’r Surakha Kavach” will begin on 10th January 2023.

 

The campaign will continue for 60 days during which the workers of the party will reach out to the people across the state and ensure that everyone can avail of the welfare schemes of the state government.

 

 

During the “Didi’r Surakha Kavach” campaign every leader of the party, MP, and MLA will stay at people’s homes for 10 nights.

 

TMCs campaign in 2021 has resonance with Bengal voters and Mamata Banerjee will have to replicate something along those lines to ensure similar results in the Panchayat polls.

Mamata Banerjee will focus on her government’s performance with state schemes as well as the implementation of central government schemes.

 

The “Didi’r Surakha Kavach” was launched on 2nd January 2023.

 

The campaign was launched by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, and State President Subrata Bakshi.

 

The objective of the campaign is to reach and connect with the people similar to the ‘Duare Sarkar’ (Government at Doorstep)

 

According to the campaign, 3.5 lakh party workers will reach out to around 10 crore people in the state.

To ensure the welfare of the people of Bengal, the “Didi’r Surakha Kavach” will cover 15 GoWB schemes.

Every year on this day, people of the valley serve dishes in odd numbers as part of the Imoinu Eratpa ritual. They regard Imoinu Eratpa as a goddess of health, prosperity, abundance, and order of domesticity in Manipur.

 

Government Extended Warm Greetings to People on Imoinu Eratpa Festival

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh informed that the celebration keeps the tradition alive and reinforces belief in traditional elements in Manipur. Manipur Governor La Ganesan, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, and other ministers have extended their warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of the Imoinu Eratpa festival.

 

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that Imoinu Eratpa is celebrated with traditional gaiety and religious fervor, seasonal fruits, vegetables, and fish are offered, and lights are lit around the houses to evoke the blessings of Goddess Imoinu, believed to be the Goddess of wealth and prosperity.

 

History of Imoinu Eratpa

The festival is dedicated to the goddess Imoinu or Emoinu. In Meitei mythology, Imoinu is associated with household, hearth, kitchen, wealth, peace, and prosperity. She is also associated with the incarnations of the goddess Leimarel Sidabi.

 

Celebrating this festival brings the worshippers wealth and prosperity. People pray for peace and positivity in their life. People during the festival offer rice, vegetables, and fruits to the goddess. The Meitei community also offers rice, vegetables, and fish, Aallago Attu.
