Integrated Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY cards will be issued soon
Why
is it in news?
The
Health Ministry has recently informed that soon the Ayushman card will be
co-branded with the state logo and name of state-specific health schemes as
well as the flagship health scheme of the Centre.
Introduction
•
Pradhan Mantri Bharat Jan Arogya Arogya Yojana is one of the health schemes
(Ayushman Bharat). It was launched by a government as the world's largest
insurance company.
•
The National Health Protection Mission was earlier to be named. The secondary
covers the expenses of secondary and many tertiary health.
•
The PM-JAY scheme will provide poor, disadvantaged rural families and urban
labor families with a health benefit cover of Rs five lakh per family per year,
as per the latest Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) data (about 50 crore
beneficiaries).
•
Health benefits under this plan include over 1,350 medical packages covering
surgery, medical and daycare treatments, cost of medicines and diagnosis.
Highlights
•
This step has been taken by the government to reduce the confusion among the
citizens so that they can know which schemes are applicable for them. According
to the Health Ministry, at present about 20 schemes are being run in many
states.
•
At present, except Delhi, Odisha and West Bengal, all other states and union
territories have agreed to co-brand the cards. After this co-branding, their
joint name will be changed to 'Ayushman Card'.
•
This card will be bilingual in English and local language.
•
Under the new arrangement, eligible beneficiaries of any government insurance
scheme will be able to avail this coverage in any of the 25,000 hospitals empaneled
under the central scheme. The central government will provide a cover of ₹5
lakh, and beyond that individual states are free to add to the insurance
package.
•
According to the Ministry of Health, about 188.1 million persons have been
verified under this scheme till August 17, 2022, out of which updated Ayushman
cards have been issued to 141.2 million people.
One Nation One Fertilizer
One Nation One Fertilizer
Why is it in news?
•
Recently, the One Nation One Fertilizer scheme is going to be implemented in
the country from October 2, 2022. Under this scheme all types of fertilizers
will be sold in India under the same brand name 'Bharat'. Also, the government
has changed the name of the fertilizer subsidy scheme to Pradhan Mantri
Bhartiya Janurvarak Pariyojna (PMBJP).
•
After the implementation of this scheme, Bharat Urea, Bharat DAP, Bharat MOP
and Bharat NPK will be available in the market under single brand names like
Urea, DAP, MOP and NPK etc.
Highlights
•
It has been said in this plan that private and public sector companies will
have to name their products as India and the bag will also have the logo of the
Prime Minister's Indian Fertilizer Project (Pradhanmantri Bhartiya Janurvarak
Pariyojna - PMBJP).
•
This new brand name and logo, along with the subsidy title, will be on
two-thirds of the printable area on the bag, while one-third will be used for
fertilizer companies' details and its emblem as well as other information as
per rules.
Benefits of the Plan
•
According to the government, a single brand name will help reduce freight
charges by preventing cross movement of fertilizers. It has been seen many
times that a fertilizer company based in Uttar Pradesh is selling its product
in Maharashtra.
•
Due to which the demand of these brands increases without any reason in that
area and when there is no supply then people do not like to take a different
brand of fertilizer even if they are similar.
•
This created brand-wise demand for fertilizers in specific areas leading to
shortage of fertilizers while local manufacturers suffered. So one of the
reasons behind the idea of ONOF is to stop these things.
•
As we all know that the government gives huge subsidy on fertilizer products
which is more than the MRP, so the subsidy scheme on sacks will also be
mentioned under this scheme.
Fertilizer Companies Approach
Having
the same brand name of the product of all the companies will completely destroy
the brand value of their product in the market, which the fertilizer companies
are unhappy with. As we know that fertilizer companies use various activities
to increase their reach among the farmers in which their brand is prominently
displayed, thereby promoting the brand of the company. But now having a brand
name, companies will have to face difficulties in promoting their product.
