PM pays condolences after the demise of the Kannada singer Shivamogga Subbanna. He had been a well-known name in the field of singing.

“The exceptional Shivamogga Subbanna was a household name for those who love Kannada songs and music. His works are admired and so are his efforts to connect gems of Kannada poetry with the present generation. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti”


PM lauds the contributions made by the Elephant conservationists on the World Elephant Day

PM expresses happiness upon rise in the number of elephant reserves in the last 8 years.

In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said;

“On WorldElephantDay, reiterating our commitment to protect the elephant. You would be happy to know that India houses about 60% of all Asian elephants. The number of elephant reserves has risen in the last 8 years. I also laud all those involved in protecting elephants.”

“The successes in elephant conservation must be viewed in context of the larger efforts underway in India to minimise human-animal conflict, and integrating local communities and their traditional wisdom in furthering environmental consciousness.”

Highlights

The exhibition to remain open for public viewing till 30th  September 2022 from 10: 00 am to 5:00 pm each day except on holidays.

This exhibition is based on original government documents, cartographic records, newspapers, private papers, contemporary photographs and proscribed literature housed in the National Archives of India.

 

This exhibition provides a glimpse into a number of revolutionary movements and struggles in various parts of the country including:

·        Revolt of Jungle Mahal, or Chuar Uprising (1771- 1809) (West Bengal),

·        Sambalpur Revolt, Odisha (1827-62),

·        Great uprising (1857),

·        Kuka Namdhari Movement,

·        Punjab (1871),

·        Assassination of Plague Commissioner, Pune (Chapekar Brothers 1897),

·        Anushilan Samiti (1902),

·        Alipore Bomb Conspiracy Case (1908),
