Why is it in news?
The PM addresses inaugural
session of First All India District Legal Services Authorities Meet. “Like Ease
of Doing Business and Ease of Living, Ease of Justice is equally important in
Amrit Yatra of the country”, the PM said.
Highlights
· “In the last eight years,
work has been done at a fast pace to strengthen the judicial infrastructure of
the country”,said the PM.
The PM added, “Our judicial system is committed to the ancient Indian values of
justice and is also ready to match the realities of the 21st century.”
· The Prime Minister also
released a commemorative postal stamp on the ‘Right to free legal aid’.
· The Prime Minister
highlighted the place of legal aid in the Directive Principles of the State Policy.
He said “As important as access to the judicial system is for any society,
justice delivery is equally important. The judicial infrastructure also has an
important contribution to this. In the last eight years, work has been done at
a fast pace to strengthen the judicial infrastructure of the country.”
· Underlining India’s
leadership in information technology and fintech, the Prime Minister stressed
that there can not be a better time to introduce more power of technology to
judicial proceedings. He said “under the e-Courts Mission, virtual courts are
being started in the country. 24-hour courts have started functioning for
crimes like traffic violations. Video conferencing infrastructure is also being
expanded in the courts for the convenience of the people.” The Prime Minister
said that more than one crore cases have been heard through video conferencing
in the country. This proves that “our judicial system is committed to the
ancient Indian values of justice and, at the same time, is ready to match the
realities of the 21st century.” He further said “a common citizen should
be aware of his rights and duties in the constitution. They should be aware of
their constitution, and constitutional structures, rules and remedies.
Technology can play a big role in this too.”

Regiment of Artillery of Indian Army
made a deadly impact on the enemy troop. On behalf of the Regiment of
Artillery, a wreath was laid by Lieutenant General TK Chawla, Director General
of Artillery at Kargil War Memorial, Dras, alongwith Veteran Gunners who had
participated in the operation. Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General
Officer Commanding, Fire & Fury Corps also laid a wreath on the solemn
occasion.

episode aims at creating awareness to manage the plastic waste.

speaking to the nation through his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ series, Hon’ble Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modi has repeatedly emphasized on the need for citizens

as a way of life.

Besides,
PM Modi called for a national movement against Single Use Plastics as
a tribute to Mahatma Gandhiji’s 150th birth anniversary. He said, “When we
celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th anniversary we’ll not only be dedicating open
defecation free India to him, but also kick-starting a mass movement for making
India plastic-free… Let birth anniversary of Gandhi ji serve as an inspiration
for all of us to curb single-use plastic.”

Roopa Mishra, Joint Secretary and National Mission Director, Swachh Bharat
Mission Urban, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs highlighted India’s role
as an emerging global leader in the field of sustainable sanitation and waste
management and contextualized the progress being made across cities. She
said, “India is crucially emerging as a strong voice in climate &
environmental matters. The PM’s recently launched Lifestyle for Environment
Movement (LiFE) is another landmark campaign that advocates for the same.
The LiFE Movement is all about making the right choices and this is a
guiding philosophy of the Mission as well. The ban on Single Use Plastics (SUP)
is a landmark step in adopting eco-friendly lifestyles that are in harmony with
nature. We are also witnessing unprecedented mass movements and jan
andolan to create awareness regarding the same. This is just the
beginning.”
