Why is it
in news?
PM Shri Narendra Modi will be inaugurating Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha
Samagam on July 7, 2022. The
Samagam scheduled to take
place at Varanasi is organized by the Ministry of Education in
association with University Grants Commission and Banaras Hindu University.
Highlights
·
The Summit will provide a platform
for leading Indian Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to discuss,
deliberate and share insights on strategies, success stories and best practices
in implementing the National Education Policy, 2020.
·
Spanning several sessions spread
over three days from 7th-9th of July, discussions will be held on
themes including:
a)
Multidisciplinary and Holistic
Education,
b)
Skill Development and Employability,
c)
Indian Knowledge Systems,
d)
Internationalization of Education,
e)
Digital Empowerment and Online
Education,

Research,

Innovation and Entrepreneurship,

Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam will be the adoption of the Varanasi
Declaration on Higher Education which will showcase India’s
extended vision and a renewed commitment to help achieve the goals of higher
education system.

Coal India aims to Conclude Wage Pact
Why is it in news?
The
Wage Pact focuses upon:
1. Non- Executive Workforce at the
Earliest
2. Negotiations for Mutually Agreeable Pact in Progress
The
Ministry of Coal has clarified that Coal India Ltd (CIL) has held five meetings
under NCWA – XI so far. The Company aims to conclude the wage pact of its
non-executive workforce at the earliest in a mutually agreeable manner.
Highlights
· CIL maintains amicable and
harmonious relations with its Unions and strives to avoid any discordance or
strikes in view of the importance of the coal sector in the country. The
negotiations are in progress and it usually takes time to conclude the pact.
· It is pertinent to mention
that CIL was the first CPSU in the country to have successfully concluded the
previous three wage agreements. Keeping up this tradition, CIL hopes to quickly
seal the wage pact this time as well.
· It is further stated that
any report contrary to the above statement is factually incorrect and
one-sided.

Khambatki Ghat on Pune-Satara highways (NH-4) expected to be
completed by March 2023
Why is it in news?
The
new 6-Lane tunnel at Khambatki Ghat on Pune-Satara highways (NH-4) is a twin
tunnel with 3 lanes each & currently under construction is in full progress
informed Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari in a
series of tweets.
He
said the existing 'S' curve in Satara-Pune direction shall be completed soon
that would lead to drastic reduction in accident risks. The total capital cost
for the 6.43 km long project is approximately Rs 926 Crore and is expected to
be completed by March 2023.

· Shri Gadkari said today,
our country is witnessing unprecedented infrastructural transformation under
the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi &
unfolding 'Prosperity Through Connectivity'. He said New India Demands World
Class Infrastructure.
· Shri Gadkari said the
tunnel is going to enhance connectivity and most importantly, provide direct
benefits to the commuters through their Value Over Time (VOT) and Value Over
Cost (VOC) savings.
· The Minister said average
travel time at Pune-Satara and Satara - Pune stretch through Khambataki Ghat is
45 minutes and 10-15 minutes respectively. With the completion of this tunnel,
average travel time shall be reduced to 5-10 minutes.
