·         The state government has initiated a project named Sanjeevani to uplift the livelihood of small dairy farmers and livestock owners.

 

·         The project aims to enhance the lives of farmers by providing them with convenient and high-quality livestock care services at their doorstep, utilizing telemedicine and technology. This will aid in reducing the turnaround time for services and potentially prevent outbreaks.

 

·         The Animal Husbandry Department of Himachal Pradesh has collaborated with Bharat Financial Inclusion Ltd. (BFIL), a subsidiary of IndusInd Bank, for the National Animal Disease Control Programme-Mobile Veterinary Van (NADCP-AHD-MVU) project.

 

·         The collaboration aims to provide doorstep livestock care through a toll-free telephone number that will be operational soon.

 

·         The project intends to ensure the timely delivery of quality treatment to livestock, saving farmers the additional expenses of traveling for availing veterinary services like artificial insemination, medicines, vaccination, surgery, and infertility testing.

·         Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has given his assent to a bill that bans online gambling games and regulates them. The bill had been passed by the Tamil Nadu govt for the second time on March 23, 2023.

·         Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has given his assent to a bill that bans online gambling games and regulates them.

 

·         The bill had been passed by the Tamil Nadu government for the second time on March 23, 2023. With the Governor’s approval, the Chief Minister informed the Assembly that the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Bill has been cleared, and a gazette notification is expected to follow.

 

Tamil Nadu: Banning online gambling games:

 

·         The Tamil Nadu Assembly had passed the bill banning online gambling games and regulating them in October 2022. However, the Governor returned the bill in March 2023, citing that the state legislature had no “legislative competence” to frame the bill.

 

·         To address this issue, the Tamil Nadu Assembly re-adopted the bill on March 23, 2023, and sent it again for the Governor’s assent. The Governor gave his approval to the bill, which aims to ban online gambling and regulate online games in Tamil Nadu.

 

·         The Governor gave assent to the Bill on the same day that the state government passed a resolution in the state Assembly, calling for the President and Central government to issue appropriate instructions to fix a time frame for Governors to approve bills.

 

Key details of the bill:

 

·         The Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Bill has several specifications, including the prohibition of advertisements promoting online gambling or playing online games with money or other stakes.

 

·         Violators of the provision will face imprisonment of up to one year, a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh, or both.

 

·         Additionally, those who provide online gambling services or games of poker and rummy with money or other stakes will face punishment with imprisonment for up to three years, a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh, or both.

·         During his three-day visit to Uganda’s Kampala, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar launched the ‘Tulsi Ghat Restoration Project’ in Varanasi.

 

·         He commended the Overseas Friends of BJP-Uganda for their efforts to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the oldest inhabited city in the world. Uganda has been selected to chair the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for the period of 2022 to 2025 on behalf of Africa.

 

·         The chairmanship of the movement rotates every three years during summit conferences and is assisted by both the previous and incoming chairs, representing the movement’s past, present, and future.

 

·         Jaishankar will be in Mozambique from April 13 to 15. “This will be the first visit by an Indian External Affairs Minister to the Republic of Mozambique,” according to the MEA announcement.

 

·         During his visit, he will meet with Mozambique’s top officials and co-chair the Joint Commission Meeting’s 5th Session alongside Mozambican Foreign Minister Veronica Macamo.

 

·         The EAM is anticipated to meet with numerous other Ministers and Assembly representatives from Mozambique.

·         The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on April 7, 2011, designating April 12th as the International Day of Human Space Flight. This day is dedicated to honoring the first human to orbit the Earth, a Russian cosmonaut, on April 12th, 1961.

 

 

International Day of Human Space Flight: Significance

 

·         The United Nations acknowledges that outer space offers significant benefits and is of common interest to all humanity. Through space exploration, we have made progress in many areas, including communication, navigation, and weather forecasting.

 

·         The ongoing efforts of space scientists have also led to the detection of potentially dangerous objects in our solar system and approaching our planet, helping us better prepare for potential threats from space.

 

·         Additionally, advancements in outer space technologies have made it possible to capture the first image of a black hole.

 

International Day of Human Space Flight: History

 

·         The history of human space exploration is marked by significant milestones. On October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union launched Sputnik I, the world’s first man-made satellite, into outer space, marking the beginning of space exploration. This event set off the Space Race between the Soviet Union and the United States.

 

·         On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human to journey into outer space aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft, completing a full orbit around the Earth. This historic achievement opened up new possibilities for human exploration of space.

 

·         Two years later, on June 16, 1963, Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman to orbit the Earth aboard the Vostok 6 spacecraft. Her achievement paved the way for more women to participate in space exploration.

 

·         Finally, on July 20, 1969, the United States achieved a major milestone when Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the surface of the moon during the Apollo 11 mission.

 

·         This accomplishment marked a significant achievement in space exploration and inspired future generations to continue pushing the boundaries of space travel.
