Minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology and
Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated AMRITPEX 2023 – National Philatelic
Exhibition. This five-day Mahakumbh of Stamps is being celebrated from 11th
February to 15th February 2023 and is being organized as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit
Mahotsav Celebrations.

Ashwini
Vaishnaw informed that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the
Postal department has transformed totally and has become a digital network for
banking, service delivery, and social security payments network.
·
Devusinh
Chauhan informed that AMRITPEX is the national platform to highlight and
display the 5000
years old rich history and culture of
this great nation.
·
The
exhibition displays more than 20,000 exhibits under 13 competitive categories
and invitees. A special section on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav has also been
included with encouraging participation by youth and budding philatelists.
·
The
Department of Posts also released a Commemorative Postage Stamp on Azadi Ka
Amrit Mahotsav.
·
This
stamp has been designed from the best entries of the national wide design
competition in which more than 4 lakh students participated.
·
This
competition was organized at the Pan India level in partnership with the Department of
School Education and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The national winners of this competition were also felicitated during the
event.

three-day event ’ the 12th World Hindi Conference at the Pacific Island nation.

Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to
inaugurate the three-day event’ the 12th World Hindi Conference on 15th
February at the Pacific Island nation.
·
The
12th World Hindi Conference, scheduled to be held at Nadi from 15th February to
17th February 2023, will be on the theme “Hindi – Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence”.
·
The
conference will be spread over one plenary session and ten parallel sessions on
topics such as Hindi in Girmitiya countries, Hindi in Fiji and the Pacific,
Information Technology, and Hindi in the 21st century.
·
It
also includes topics such as Media and the global perception of Hindi; global
reference to Indian knowledge traditions and Hindi; Linguistic coordination and
Hindi translation.
·
Parallel
sessions on different forms of Hindi cinema and the global scenario, global
market and Hindi, Pravasi Hindi literature in the changing scenario, and Hindi
teaching in India and abroad, challenges and solutions will also be held.
·
Hindi
scholars from India and other countries will be awarded the “Vishwa Hindi
Samman” for their exceptional
contributions to the Hindi language during the conference.

Fiji is
hosting the conference for the first time and is home to a
large Indian diaspora. Over 37 percent of the Pacific Island country’s
population is of Indian descent, with many speaking Hindi, one of Fiji’s three
official languages, alongside English and Fijian.

in the past five years.

state news agencies reported that India received arms worth around $13 billion from Russia in the past five years. Moreover,
New Delhi has further placed orders with Moscow for weapons and military
equipment exceeding $10 billion.
·
India
accounts for around 20 percent of Moscow’s current order book and is the world’s biggest
buyer of Russian arms. While New Delhi has not openly condemned
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called
for dialogue and diplomacy to solve the conflict.
India, China: Interest in buying Russian arms:

Dmitry
Shugayev, the
head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, told the
agencies that India, China and some Southeast Asian countries have continued to
have interest in buying Russian arms.
·
The
agency reported that annual arms exports have been about $14-15 billion, with
the order book steady at around $50 billion.
·
Russia’s
S-400 Triumf missile defence systems, short-range surface-to-air missiles systems such as the
Osa, Pechora or Strela, as well as Su-30 warplanes, MiG-29 helicopters and
drones have been of special interest to Asian countries, Shugayev said.
Russia’s Counter to The Western sanctions:

Notably,
following Ukraine’s invasion, several Western countries imposed sanctions on
Russia, including on arms. Moscow has maintained that it is carrying out a “special military
operation”.

According
to TASS state news
agency, Russia is set to present about 200 samples of weapons and
military equipment at the 14th international aerospace exhibition Aero India
2023 in Bengaluru.
·
India
is scouting for billions of dollars worth of military planes, completing
jetliner deals to meet civilian demand and pressing global aircraft
manufacturers to produce more locally at the show this week.
