Meghna Ahlawat was elected president of the Table Tennis Federation of India. Meghna Ahlawat has been elected its first female President, eight-time national champion Kamlesh Mehta takes over as the new secretary general of the TTFI and Patel Nagender Reddy has been elected as the Treasurer. 

 

 Ahlawat, who is the wife of Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala, contested against Gujarat home minister Harsh Sanghvi.

The Delhi High Court had suspended TTFI in February and appointed a Committee of Administrators (CoA) to take over its functioning.

 

The judgement came after woman’s India No 1 Manika Batra petitioned the court alleging match-fixing against the national coach during Tokyo Olympics qualifiers. She contended that the then national coach Soumyadeep Roy had asked her to concede a match against compatriot Sutirtha Mukherjee—she was also his academy trainee.

 

The court appointed a three-member committee to look into the allegations. Dushyant Chautala was the previous TTFI president. The Delhi High Court had barred members of the suspended executive board from taking part in the elections.

The World Ayurveda Congress & Arogya Expo 2022 will be held in Goa from 8-11 December with an objective to provide a global platform to stakeholders, including industry leaders, practitioners, traditional healers, educationists, students, medicine manufacturers, etc. for networking and engaging in intellectual exchange to strengthen the Ayurveda sector, envision its future, and facilitate interaction between professionals and consumers to boost Ayurveda commerce.

The Theme : The theme for the 9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) this year is ‘Ayurveda For One Health’.

The third edition of the ‘Ayushman’ comic book series was also released at the event. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) and Rosenberg’s European Academy of Ayurveda, Germany, to facilitate advanced studies in traditional Indian medicine systems.

Addressing the event, Union minister of state for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shripad Naik said that the spread of Ayurveda worldwide has been facilitated by the setting up of a separate ministry of Ayush by the Centre in 2014. “When one sees the way Ayush is progressing today, one must remember that the seed of this development lies in that decision.”

‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ is the spirit of India since the beginning. In 2015, the United Nations decided to celebrate the International Day of Yoga. Now it is benefiting citizens all over the world. The Ayurveda Congress‘ activities go a long way in propagating such traditional systems of healing and well-being all over the world,“ the minister said.

The upcoming satellite centre of All India Institute of Ayurveda in Goa will boost Ayurvedic tourism in the state. Goan students will get 50% reservation in admissions for various courses at the institute.

According to official data, the AYUSH industry grew 17% year-on-year during 2014-2020, while the Ayurveda market is forecast to grow at 15% CAGR from 2021-2026. The market size of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) in the country has grown from $3 billion in 2014 to over $18 billion now.

Indian Navy to Participate in the First International Fleet Review of the Bangladesh Navy

The Bangladesh Navy is hosting the first-ever International Fleet Review at Inani of Cox’s Bazar between December 6 and 9.

The Bangladesh Navy is hosting the first-ever International Fleet Review at Inani of Cox’s Bazar between December 6 and 9. Naval commanders, ships from some 30 countries including the United States, China, India and the neighbouring Myanmar would participate in the international gathering. Indian Navy ships Kochi, Kavaratti and Sumedha will participate in this.

According to a letter from the Armed Forces Division, the US Pacific fleet commander Admiral Samuel J Paparo Jr, Indian chief of naval staff Admiral R Hari Kumar and Indian Coast Guard director general Virender Singh Pathania, among others, were scheduled to visit Cox’s Bazar with their aircraft.

The Chinese national defense ministry on  in a statement stated that their guided missile destroyer Changsha (Hull 173) set sail for Bangladesh.

Naval intelligence director Commodore Moniruzzaman told New Age that their preparation was in full swing as representatives from the US, China and India, among others, were scheduled to participate in the meeting of international navies.

According to sources, ships from China, US, India, Thailand, China, Myanmar and Malaysia are due to attend the gathering.

Naval representatives from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Australia, China, Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria, Sudan, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Iran, Oman, Palestine and Saudia Arabia would be present in the gathering.

Objective:

The key purpose of hosting the IFR would be to deepen relations among the naval forces on the Indo-Pacific Ocean.

Military analyst retired Major General Shahidul Hoque told New Age that the first-ever fleet review in Bangladesh would be a manifestation of the country’s global engagement.

The Navy headquarters believes that the IFR 2022 would also serve as an ideal platform for world’s navies to showcase their prowess, naval diplomacy, goodwill and cooperation in an international arena alongside interacting with world navies in Bangladesh waters, promote tourism and infrastructure development in the coastal areas of Bangladesh.

International Fleet Review -22 is being conducted by BN this year, to commemorate the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of Bangladesh.
