• Recently, Liz Truss,
who has been in the news for a long time, has finally been named as the next
Prime Minister of Britain. Liz Truss has been named as the leader of the
governing Conservative Party and the country's next prime minister.

Foreign Secretary, has defeated her rival Rishi Sunak, and will lead Britain
after Boris Johnson.

was born on 26 July 1975 in Oxford, UK. His father's name is John Kenneth (math
teacher) and his mother's name is Priscilla Marie Truss. She married Hugh
O'Leary in the year 2000, with whom she has two daughters.

education at Roundhay School in Leeds; at the age of seven, Liz Truss also
played Margaret Thatcher (former prime minister) in one of her school

'Mascot' and 'Anthem' launch of 36th National Games

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the
mascot and anthem of the 36th National Games at Trans Stadium in Ahmedabad. The
mascot is named Savaj, which in Gujarati means 'cub' and the anthem is based on
the theme of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'.
Introduction
• Inspired the introduction of the National Games to
identify the national talent that could be selected for the Olympic Games.
• The first edition of
the Indian Olympic Games was started in 1924 in Lahore, undivided India by the
efforts of Dr. A. G. Nohran and Harry Crow Buck to inspire youth to take up
sports through an all-India sporting event.
• After the eighth
edition in Calcutta in 1938, these games were named as National Games. After
independence, the first National Games were organized in Lucknow city, while
the first National Games on the lines of Olympics were held in 1985 in New
Delhi.

national game will be organized in Gujarat from 29th of this month to 12th of
next month. It will be organized in six cities of the state namely Gandhinagar,
Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar. This time more than 12000
athletes and officials are participating in this Games.
• The last edition of
the National Games was held in Kerala in 2015. The 2022 edition of the National
Games is being organized after a gap of seven years.v
Ramon Magsaysay Award 2022 announced
Why is it in
news?
The year 2022 Ramon
Magsaysay Award has been announced. This time the award was given to four
people. The 2022 Ramon Magsaysay Award winners include Gary Bencheghib, Tadashi
Hattori, Sotheara Chhim and Bernadette Madrid. It is also considered as 'Asia's
Nobel Peace Prize'. The award is given annually by the Ramon Magsaysay Awards

Sotheara Chhim is a Cambodian psychiatrist and mental health advocate who is
treating the mental health of his countrymen. He studied medicine at the

in Khmer Rouge camps for more than three years.
• Gary Bencheghib: Gary
Bencheghib is a young Frenchman on a mission to eradicate marine plastic
pollution in the river in Bali, Indonesia. His parents have been living in Bali
since he was nine and this has been his home since then. He runs an
organization called "Make a Change World", which works on plastic
pollution and environmental protection.
• Tadashi Hattori:
Tadashi Hattori is a Japanese ophthalmologist and philanthropist who invested
his time and resources in providing free eye surgery in Vietnam. 48-year-old
Hatori was born in 1964 in Osaka, Japan. He graduated from Kyoto Prefectural
University of Medicine in 1993. And then engaged in the work of social service.
• Bernadette Madrid:
Bernadette J. Madrid is a Filipino pediatrician, working for the right of child
protection. She has headed the Philippine General Hospital, Manila's first
child protection center since 1997. Through this center he has served more than
27,000 children till 2021.

Coal Ministry reviews non-operational captive and commercial coal blocks of Jharkhand
Why

Additional Secretary,
Ministry of Coal and Nominated Authority reviewed the status of 20
non-operational captive and commercial coal blocks in Jharkhand.
Highlights
• Director (Mines &
Geology) of Jharkhand along with the officials of Ministry of Environment,
Forest and Climate Change and PCCF-Jharkhand and the proponents of the projects
were present during this.
• The Ministry of Coal
appreciated the improvement in the overall condition of the non-operational
coal blocks of Jharkhand and the assistance provided by the State Mining and
Forest Department.
• It was observed that during
the current financial year about 3 to 4 coal blocks will get mining permission
and coal production will be started from four coal blocks.
• Jharkhand is expected
to produce about 37.3 million tonnes of coal from captive and commercial coal
blocks in 2022-23. Earlier this figure was 17.72 million tonnes in 2021-22. In
this way, there will be an increase of 110.4 percent in the production of coal
in the current financial year as compared to 2021-22.
• Ministry of Coal has
assured all possible assistance to solve the problems faced by the project
proponents.
