enthusiasm
Yoga is for entire humanity not for merely an individual – Prime Minister

The
Ministry of Ayush and the Government of Karnataka organized the main event of
8th edition of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2022 at Mysuru Palace,
Mysuru.
Why is it in news?
Prime
Minister led the mass yoga demonstration at Mysuru Palace along with over
15,000 participants, which also included over 200 special physically challenged
children, 100 orphaned children, 15 transgenders, HIV-positive people, and ASHA
workers.

· On this occasion, Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasized that this year’s theme aptly portrays
how Yoga served humanity in alleviating suffering during COVID-19 pandemic.
Today yoga is becoming a basis for global cooperation and is providing a belief
of a healthy life to mankind. He added that we see that Yoga has come out of
the households and has spread all over the world and this is a picture of
spiritual realization, and that of natural and shared human
consciousness, especially in the last two years of an unprecedented pandemic.
· The Prime Minister said
that today is the time to realize the infinite possibilities associated with
yoga. Today our youth are coming in large numbers with new ideas in the field
of yoga. Ministry of Ayush’s Startup Yoga Challenge is bringing together new
ideas and innovation which is inspiring this generation.

Union Minister for Ayush, Ports, Shipping & Waterways Shri Sarbananda
Sonowal said that It is Prime Minister’s vision to bring world peace and
harmony by focusing on the health and well-being of individuals, communities,
nations, and the world as a whole. He said that Yoga has brought the world
together, reshaping the global values, and is bringing different healthcare
systems closer.
· The Minister further said
that Ministry of Ayush has designed unique programs to include various sections
of the society to celebrate health and heterogeneity. Shri Sonowal further
informed that the Ministry have taken various initiatives to ensure
advancement in the health and well-being of the people through Yoga.
· This year International Day
of Yoga 2022 saw many new initiatives, the ‘Guardian Ring’ program,
which is collaborative exercise between 79 countries and United Nations
organisations along with Indian Missions abroad to illustrate Yoga's unifying
power that surpasses national boundaries. Integrating the Azadi Ka Amrit
Mahotsav with celebrations of 8th IDY, Mass Yoga demonstrations were organised
at 75 iconic locations across the country under the leadership
of 75 Union Ministers.
· Prime Minister also
inaugurated the Digital yoga exhibition, which is showcasing the
latest technologies like Virtual Reality to project the history and wisdom of
Yoga. Prime Minister also visited the static Ayush exhibition, which consists
of 146 stalls were yoga institutions, Ayush institutions under the ambit of the
Government of Karnataka and the Government of India are
participating.

111 more RUPPs deleted from the list and benefits under the Symbols Order
(1968) withdrawn
The
Election Commission of India issued an order dated May 25, 2022 to nudge the
Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs) for ensuring due compliances
after Commission's meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Election
Commissioner Shri Rajiv Kumar along with Election Commissioner Shri Anup
Chandra Pandey.
Why is it in news?
In
the said order, Chief Electoral Officers were directed to initiate action for
enforcing due compliances by RUPPs for relevant sections 29A and 29C of the RP
Act 1951.
Highlights
· As a follow up to the 25th
May, 2022 decision to delete the 87 non-existent RUPPs, in the second phase of
the current exercise, the Commission today (20th June,
2022) decided to delete 111 additional RUPPs from the register. These 111
RUPPs, whose address of communication, was statutorily required as registration
requirement under section 29A(4); any change in address was required to be
communicated to the ECI under section 29A(9), which they have not complied
with.
· CEOs have reported that
these RUPPs either have been found to be non-existent on verification or the
letters issued by them, in pursuance to the Commission's order dated 25.05.2022
have returned undelivered by the postal department.
· Commission further decided
that any party aggrieved from this, may approach the concerned Chief Electoral
Officer/ Election Commission within 30 days of the issue of this order along
with all evidences of existence, other legal and regulatory compliances
including year wise annual audited accounts, contribution report, expenditure
report, updation of office bearers including authorised signatories for
financial transactions (including bank account). The segregated list of such
RUPPs shall be sent to respective CEOs and CBDT for requisite action under
extant legal framework.
· Further, a reference has
also been sent to the Department of Revenue for necessary legal & criminal
action against 3 RUPPs involved in serious financial impropriety. A list of
1897, 2202 and 2351 RUPPs for non-submission of Contribution Reports in
FY 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 respectively has also been shared for taking
all consequential action as per RP Act 1951 read with the relevant provisions
of the IT Act 1961. A list of 66 RUPPs which have claimed income tax exemption
without submitting contribution reports as mandated under section 29C of the
Act has also been shared with the Revenue Department.
· This exercise which
commenced on May 25, 2022 will continue to be in operation and will be
systematically followed up.

for Defence Mr Richard Marles in New Delhi on June 22, 2022.
Why is it in news?
During the bilateral talks, the two
Ministers will review the defence cooperation between the two countries and
explore new initiatives to further strengthen bilateral engagements. They will
also exchange views on regional and global issues of shared interest.
