Gifts one million dollars to Air Force Officers Training School at Nha Trang to
establish a language & IT laboratory
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh
visited the training institutions of Vietnam on June 10, 2022 - the final day
of his three-day official visit to the Southeast Asian country. Shri Rajnath
Singh, who is in Vietnam to enhance defence cooperation between the two
countries, began his day’s engagements by paying a visit to Air Force Officers
Training School at Nha Trang.
Why is it in news?
He handed over a gift of one million
dollars on behalf of Government of India for the establishment of a language
and IT laboratory in the School. Addressing the Officers at the School, he
hoped that the laboratory would substantially contribute to sharpen the
language and IT skills of Air Defence and Air Force personnel of Vietnam.

Later, Shri Rajnath
Singh visited the Telecommunications University in Nha Trang, where an Army
Software Park is being established with the $US 5 million grant from Government
of India. The grant was announced during Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s
visit to Vietnam in September 2016.

During his visit to
Vietnam, the Raksha Mantri had held bilateral talks with Minister of National
Defence General Phan Van Giang and called on the President of Vietnam Mr Nguyen
Xuan Phuc & Prime Minister Mr Pham Minh Chinh.

On June 09,
2022, Shri Rajnath Singh handed over 12 High Speed Guard Boats to
Vietnam during his visit to Hong Ha Shipyard in Hai Phong. The boats have been
constructed under the Government of India’s $US 100 million Defence Line of
Credit to Vietnam.

Rupala participated in DD News conclave on 8th June, 2022. With
the Union Government under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi completing eight
years, DD News is organizing a week-long News Conclave titled ‘आठ साल मोदी सरकार: सपने कितने हुए साकार’ from 3rd to
11th June, 2022.
Why is it in news?
During
the interview, Shri Parshottam Rupala said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra
Modi has always promoted scientific innovation and technology in all sectors,
especially for farmer welfare, which has always been a top priority for the
government. He remarked that this was true even when Prime Minister Shri
Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat and he used to hold interactive
sessions with farmers, initiated the Krishi Mahotsav and also started
ambulances, mobile veterinary units for animals.

under the 11th installment of PM-Kisan, Rs. 2 lakh Cr has been
transferred under DBT, directly into the beneficiary’s account.
· Further to promote services
& entrepreneurship in dairy sector, fifty percent subsidy has been given
for breeding farms & handholding of dairy units. Speaking about the
strength of the Cooperatives, Shri Parshottam Rupala said that one of the most
successful examples has been Amul in Gujarat which pumps in more than 125 crore
rupees per day into India’s villages. Attempts are on to replicate this
in other sectors of agriculture as well. In Fisheries sector, the Government
has introduced the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana which has brought Kisan
Credit Cards for the first time for fishermen, and is also extending support
for entrepreneurship, fish transportation, livelihood etc.

The
largest iron ore producer of India, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) is
participating in the Exhibition, organized by Department of Public Enterprises
(DPE) to celebrate the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) at
Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Center, Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 9th to
12th June, 2022. Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai
Patel and Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance & Corporate
Affairs, inaugurated the exhibition on ‘Nation Building and CPSEs’ where 75
CPSEs including NMDC showcased their achievements towards nation
building.
Why is it in news?
The
NMDC pavilion was inaugurated by the company’s Director (Finance) Shri Amitava
Mukherjee. The stall displays of NMDC’s major achievements of 42 million tonnes
iron ore production, the company’s transformational digital journey, and
investment in building the social capital of its host communities. In the
honour of 75 years of independence, NMDC is organizing activities and campaigns
to engage people in celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav as a Jan-Utsav in
the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari.
