- Recently, a well-known Indian film actor suffered from heatstroke in Ahmedabad.
- What is Heatstroke?
- Heatstroke is the most severe heat-related illness. It occurs when the ambient temperature is so high that the body can no longer regulate its core temperature through sweating, causing the core temperature to rise to 40 degrees Celsius or higher.
- Causes:
- Heatstroke happens when the body cannot sweat to cool itself down due to excessively high temperatures. This results in a critical imbalance of essential salts like sodium and potassium in the body. The elevated core temperature and salt imbalances disrupt organ function, leading to a range of symptoms.
- Impacts on the Human Body:
- Heatstroke can have severe effects on the brain, causing confusion, drowsiness, and in extreme cases, coma. It can also damage the kidneys and liver. The combination of these symptoms can be fatal if not treated properly.
